Overview
Learner goals and capabilities

Virtual Internship Opportunity in Business: Bring on one more students from Maple Leagues of universities (the consortium of Acadia, Bishop's, Mount Allison and St. Francis Xavier universities) to be your virtual interns, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the internship period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Students are available for 200 hours of placement from May 2020 to August 2020. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, student placements will only occur virtually.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Deliverables will vary depending on the scope of the project, and might include: process maps, stakeholder presentations and executive summaries, financial and other data analysis, written reports with insights and recommendations, and implementation plans that include useable content (e.g. email scripts to accompany a new prospecting plan). The student should complete 280 hours with your organization by September 1, 2020.

Project Examples

Students can complete a substantial consulting project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates structure for the internship, and gives the student (and company) a tangible goal.

Students from the Maple League of Universities (the consortium of Acadia, Bishop's, Mount Allison and St. Francis Xavier universities Business programs can complete projects for a range of business functions, including strategy, operations, and marketing. • Operations - Recommend process improvements or redesign processes; develop improvements to supply chain processes to be more responsive to changes in demand; introduce quality assurance into internal processes; redesign incentive structures to improve employee performance and engagement.
  • Marketing - Complete a full customer, competitor, market, and environmental analysis; complete a marketing strategy review; design a new marketing strategy (product, place, price, and promotion); conduct overhaul of branding or communication strategy.
